Founded in 1933, Marin Music Chest is a private, non-profit organization offering merit scholarships and community grants to talented young musicians in order to support and encourage classical music study and performance. Each spring music students audition for our Artistic Council, which selects scholarship recipients who then perform in a Scholarship Winners Concert. Additional performance opportunities include the Young Artists Concert, sponsored by Chamber Music Marin, and Outreach Concerts which take place in the fall.
Music Chest is staffed by a volunteer Board of Directors with an extensive musical background and an Artistic Council whose members have backgrounds in music as a profession, all of whom are dedicated to supporting the Mission of the Music Chest.

The mission of the Marin Music Chest is to foster in our youth the joys of music; to develop a deep appreciation of the musical arts; to encourage the pursuit of a career in music in talented, promising young students; and to build a strong core of future patrons of the arts through scholarships and assistance to other nonprofit organizations with similar goals.
